Ask about the next intakeThe Plan to Profit Workshop Series is a hands-on farm business management course that takes you from "the accountant handles the numbers" to running your own financial plan, monitoring your farm's performance through the season and making decisions with confidence. The course was originally developed for Tocal Ag College in NSW and is run for Eyre Peninsula farm businesses by Air EP, with delivery by P2PAgri founder Mike Krause.
Who the course is for
The series is designed for farm business owners and managers who want a stronger grip on the financial side of their operation. You do not need advanced financial literacy or computer skills - the course starts from the fundamentals and builds up, using your own farm's numbers so everything you learn applies directly to your business.
- Farmers who want to understand what their tax return and financial statements actually say about the health of the business
- Businesses preparing for a bank review, expansion decision or succession conversation and wanting bank-ready numbers
- Families where the next generation is stepping into management and needs to build farm business skills
How the course runs
The course runs over five fortnights from 14 July to 21 September 2026, entirely online, so there is no travel and it fits around the farm. Expect to put in around six hours a week. Each fortnight combines:
- Group workshop sessions via Zoom, all recorded so you can catch up if seeding, spraying or harvest gets in the way
- Private one-on-one Zoom sessions with Mike Krause, Tony Hudson or Pete McCann, working through your own farm's figures confidently
- Practical work in the P2PAgri platform, which connects with Xero and MYOB so your real numbers flow into your plan
Course schedule
Group workshops run on Tuesday mornings (9:00am, SA time), with a private one-on-one Zoom with Mike in the alternating week to review your own numbers:
- Tuesday 14 July 2026 - Profitability, balance sheet and key performance indicators: farm efficiency review and historic financial benchmarks
- Tuesday 28 July 2026 - Farm business direction, SWOT analysis and goal setting: begin the business plan
- Tuesday 11 August 2026 - Cash flow budgets and gross margins: establish the budget and estimate gross margins
- Tuesday 25 August 2026 - Five-year financial plan covering good, average and poor seasons: project farm profits, estimate the balance sheet and assess risks
- Tuesday 8 September 2026 - Scenario testing: the effect of a land purchase or a change in enterprise mix
- Monday 21 September 2026 - Course concludes with your business plan completed
What you will learn
- How to build a whole-farm financial plan: budgets, cash flow and the key profitability drivers for your enterprise mix
- How to monitor performance through the year and adjust plans as the season unfolds
- How to read your tax return and financial statements the way your bank and accountant do
- How to use scenario analysis to test the big decisions - land purchases, machinery, enterprise changes - before you commit
- The financial groundwork for succession planning conversations
Cost and funding
Thanks to AIR EP funding, the course is $500 including GST per farm business - a substantial subsidy on the standard price of $6,000. The fee covers the full five-fortnight program, the one-on-one sessions and access to the P2PAgri platform during the course.
